EASYJET has announced plans to introduce a new year-round service between Belfast International Airport and Southampton.

The budget carrier is set to launch the flights on October 29, operating three times per week.

Already the north’s biggest airline, EasyJet is ramping up for its biggest ever summer in Northern Ireland.

The carrier is adding an eighth aircraft at Belfast International and is continuing to grow its presence at Belfast City Airport.

EasyJet’s UK country manager, Ali Gayward, said the new route to the English south coast will offer stronger connectivity for leisure and business travellers.

“We are proud to be the largest airline in Northern Ireland where we remain committed to strengthening our unrivalled short-haul network and the launch of this new route demonstrates our confidence in the resilient strength of demand for travel in the UK, with customers choosing us for our trusted brand, unrivalled network and great value fares, and we can’t wait to welcome more customers on board.”

Belfast International Airport’s managing director, Graham Keddie described Southampton as a “pivotal addition” to the EasyJet operation at the Aldergrove terminal

“The inclusion of this route further enhances our GB network coverage bringing the total number of UK destinations served to 16 on high frequency services.

“EasyJet are a key strategic partner at Belfast International Airport and we look forward to working closely with them in the future to further develop their presence at Belfast International Airport.”
