LRA PRIDE DISCUSSION

To coincide with Belfast Pride Week (July 21-30), the Labour Relations Agency (LRA) is hosting a panel discussion on July 26 from 10am-11.30am to help businesses and organisations manage workplace conversations on diversity issues.

Panellists taking part in the session, being held at the LRA offices at James House, Cromac Avenue in Belfast will include Morna Blaney, LRA; Geraldine Alexander, NIPSA deputy general Secretary; Dr Kirsten Kearney, Inclusive Faith; Karen McShane, employer and president of CIHT; Paul Gillen, Lewis Silkin LLP; Orla McKeating, Diversity Mark and Paul Bloomer, Belfast Pride Trustee. The event will be chaired by Jude Copeland from legal firm, Cleaver Fulton Rankin.

FÉILE GOOD FACTOR

Mental health advocates Annette Kelly and Domhnall Nugent have teamed up to bring the Féile Good factor to this year’s Féile an Phobail with a new event that will explore confidence, resilience and mindset.

Taking place on Thursday August 3 at The Devenish in Belfast, Founder of inspirational wellness brand, Little Penny Thoughts, Annette Kelly and Domhnall Nugent of health and wellness website, Let’s Face It, have fused their passion together to create a night of uplifting conversation.

Guests can look forward to a panel of inspiring, well-known guests including professional boxer, Michael Conlan; GAA Manager, Mark Harte; Health & Performance Coach Tony O’Neill; Founder of Sunrise Social, Caroline McKenna and Antrim Hurler, Neil McManus.

CASH FOR KIDS CORPORATE GOLF DAY

Cash for Kids is taking to the greens this September, with the sole purpose of supporting disadvantaged children across Northern Ireland.

The charity has launched its first Corporate Golf Day and is inviting budding teams to register their four ball.

Taking place on Friday September 15 at Shandon Park Golf Club, players can expect a day of prizes, mini competitions, food, hospitality and of course a great round of golf, all hosted by Cool FM’s very own Pete Snodden and Downtown Radio’s Glen Pavis.

The team at Cash for Kids is also encouraging businesses to consider sponsoring a hole on the day, to further boost the fundraising effort.

SISTERSIN LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME

Up to 500 sixth form girls from 30 schools across Northern Ireland will be given the opportunity from September to take part in a unique programme created to help develop the female leaders of tomorrow.

SistersIN is an eight-month leadership development programme which aims to address the need for gender parity by building pupils’ confidence and broadening their career perspectives. Each pupil is matched with a female mentor from business, education or the public sector.

The class of 2023 involved 188 pupils from 10 schools. Unveiling a report on the impact of the programme in its first year, Peter Dobbin, principal of Assumption Grammar School and director of SistersIN said:

The class of 2024, which begins in September, was launched at an event at Danske Bank, a SistersIN Foundation partner.

NI SOCIAL ENTERPRISE AWARDS 2023

The annual NI Social Enterprise Awards 2023 are now open for applications. The awards, organised by Social Enterprise Northern Ireland, celebrate the outstanding work and impact of social enterprises across the region, highlighting the active role that social enterprises play in building places, supporting communities, and making a positive impact on our environment and wellbeing. Winners will be revealed on Friday October 27 at a gala award ceremony in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Shaws Bridge Belfast, hosted by BBC radio presenter Cate Conway. NI CHAMBER ANNUAL GOLF DAY

The Northern Ireland Chamber will host its annual golf day on Friday September 8 at Malone Golf Club. Delivered in partnership with headline sponsor BT and supporting sponsor MCS Group, more than 100 members of the business community will tee off at the event.

The golf day is designed to help NI Chamber members build networks and make connections in a relaxed setting, whilst competing to win the coveted Golf Challenge Trophy.

HEALTH AND FITNESS AWARDS

The new faces on the judging panel of the NI Health and Fitness Awards are encouraging local businesses within the industry to enter the prestigious awards as categories are announced for 2023.

Natasha Daryaie, who runs The Gym Guru personal training and was crowned last year’s female personal trainer of the year, Billy Murray, the east Belfast kick-boxing legend and founder of ProKick Gym, who was last year took home the outstanding contribution to the industry award, and Bubba Ali, four-time Health and Fitness Award winner and owner of Bubba’s Project Gym in Armagh, are all new to the judging panel for the 2023 Awards, which are scheduled for September 23 at the Crowne Plaza Belfast.
