THE north largest family-owned new and used vehicle retailer Donnelly Group has acquired the Vauxhall franchise from Eakin Bros in Derry.

And it makes the Donnelly and Taggart Group the only Vauxhall-approved franchise for new car and van sales, Used Network Q approved vehicles, Motability and after-sales in the north west of Ireland.

The Vauxhall showroom, which will result in the creation of four new jobs, will be at Campsie industrial estate, seven miles from the city, and takes the total number of Donnelly Vauxhall sites in Northern Ireland to three, adding to the franchises in Dungannon and Omagh.

Donnelly Group executive chairman Terence Donnelly said: “We have a great relationship with Vauxhall, and our significant knowledge of the brand ensures customers benefit from the best offers and service.

“Donnelly and Taggart has been trusted by motorists in the north west for over 25 years to offer the best advice and vehicle recommendations, whether customers are considering downsizing, buying a new car for a son or daughter, or looking at a commercial vehicle."

He added: “We place great focus on keeping the customer central to everything we do, and work closely with all our manufacturers to ensure each and every customer benefits from the greatest choice, service, convenience and value at all eight of our locations across Northern Ireland.”

Brent Crawford, Donnelly and Taggart Vauxhall manager, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Vauxhall to Eglinton, joining our existing 12 manufacturers, and the inclusion of commercial vehicles such as vans in our Vauxhall offering is particularly exciting, as that was not available in the area previously.

“Several of the staff from Eakin Bros have transferred to us, so for existing customers, there will be many familiar faces who bring with them a wealth of brand knowledge and experience.”

Vauxhall Network development manager Chris Kearney said: “Vauxhall already has a strong working relationship with the Donnelly Group, and we are delighted to continue this as we expand our representation within Northern Ireland.”

Donnelly Group sells around 18,000 vehicles a year from 18 different manufacturers, and it employs more than 700 people.
