A FERMANAGH manufacturer is set for growth as invests in seven new trucks.

The major investment by bottle maker Encirc Glass, based in Derrylin will see it purchase the tracker units for the MAN Euro 6 vehicles from RK Truck Centre, Dungannon,

It is the first capital investment by Spanish company Vidrala since they bought Encirc - formerly Quinn Glass - earlier this year.

Encirc, which also has operations in Elton, Cheshire, purchased new trailers to complete the outfit from Toomebridge-based SDC Trailers.

John McNally, logistics manager Ireland and England, said: “This is a major investment for Encirc as we look to the rest of 2015.

“We had demonstrations by several manufacturers but the MAN TGX tractors really stood out due to their high quality, incredibly low fuel consumption and spacious cabin.

“Geographically, MAN was also perfectly located to carry out all our servicing and day-to-day requirements to keep our fleet in top-top condition. We were very impressed with the whole package.”

The new additions to the fleet will be involved in two types of work, drawing raw materials for the manufacture of glass and also delivering the finished product to customers.

Quinn Glass was considered one of the most valuable parts of bankrupt businessman Sean Quinn's empire.

Following its rebranding as Encirc, it was bought by Vidrala for more than €400 million (£285m).

The Derrylin and Elton plants manufacture container glass for the British and Irish food and drink sectors, with the Elton plant also providing a beverage filling and logistics service.

The acquisition is expected to expand Vidrala's position in the European glass packaging market.
