An historic building in Whiteabbey which was once the home of Lord Shaftesbury has been put up for sale by commercial property agents Lambert Smith Hampton.
Offers in the region of £800,000 are being invited for Edenmore, which was originally built in the late 1880s as a private house for the Earl of Shaftesbury, whose family still owns Lough Neagh.
The property is a substantial two storey Victorian building. Internally the original building benefits from historic features such as high ceilings with detailed cornices and grand staircases.
The building contains 70 bedrooms, communal rooms and also benefits from 30 parking spaces at the front and side of the property.
Edenmore became a hotel in the 1960s and was a popular destination for wedding receptions.
Owner Jack Rogers sold the property to the Sandown Group and it was turned into a nursing home, but it was closed last July.
The site currently has planning permission for a 60-bed nursing home.
But as the building is not listed, it could be demolished for residential use.
