ULSTER Bank has become the latest to join the Paym mobile payment service.
It means the bank's customers can now send money to anyone with a UK mobile and the Paym app or a UK Visa debit, credit or prepaid card using Pay Your Contacts.
Paym is the industry-wide payments initiative developed by the Payments Council.
It works by connecting a customer's mobile phone number to their current account, meaning they don't need to provide people with their account number and sort code to receive a payment. Head of direct banking at Ulster Bank Brian Allen said: "There's been a revolution in banking as more of our customers are using digital technology. Customers expect to make a payment at any time of day, in a way that's convenient for them."
