THE Co-operative Food is to open a new convenience store in Hillsborough after agreeing a deal to acquire the Mace store on Lisburn Road.
It has paid an undisclosed sum to acquire the business, and says all existing staff will transfer to The Co-operative Group when the store begins trading under that symbol from next Tuesday. It will be the group's 32nd food store in Northern Ireland.
Ian Mason, acquisitions manager for The Co-operative Food group, said: "We've been keen to add to the stores we already have in Northern Ireland, and these premises are in an ideal location. "The Co-operative is proud of its record of operating at the heart of local communities across Northern Ireland, and we're looking forward to serving the people of Hillsborough from our new store."
