INSURANCE broker Abbey Insurance plans to create more than 20 jobs with the opening

The first opens today on Boucher Road in south Belfast, creating eight posts and bringing the total employed at Abbey Insurance to 218.

The 1,000 sq ft Boucher Road premises is the insurance company's 15th store in Northern Ireland, having grown from one branch in Newtownabbey in 1973.

John McMichael, business de

velopment director for Abbey Insurance, said customers were seeking reliable and trusted local services.

"Our customers want to be assured that they are able to speak to experts in Northern Ireland insurance products who can compare the market and find the best possible price," he said.

"The fact we now have 15 branches means we are always local, wherever you are in the province. It's as easy as dropping in and talking to us at any time.

"We are delighted that as part of our continued expansion, we are in the position of creating 20

new posts in the next year, rein-vesting back into the Northern Ireland economy.

"As well as our services which include car, home, travel and van insurance, the new branch will offer a specialist taxi insurance department.

"Being positioned on Boucher Road, which is one of the main arterial routes for taxi depots across Belfast, we have no doubt this department will prove to be a key service offering for us.

"The Boucher branch is also the first store to employ our fresh, new look so we are all looking forward to the weeks and months ahead."
