Search hots up to find north's Pub of the Year

THE search is on to find Northern Ireland's best pub - with less than month to go before entries close on the Pub of the Year awards.

The event, organised by representative body Pubs of Ulster is to be held on November 12 at La Mon Hotel and Country Club. Compere for the evening is Cool FM breakfast show host, Pete Snodden who said is it was due "to be a fantastic night and I'm honoured to be chosen to reveal who will be crowned the best in the business".

This year, licensees across the north are being invited to enter a record 10 categories: Best Barperson; Best Entertainment; Best Food; Best New or Improved; Best Marketing Idea; Best Charity Event; Best Big Idea, Best Hotel Bar, Best Ulster Pub Week event and the ultimate award - Pub of the Year 2014.

Pubs of Ulster chairman Mark Stewart said: "We have some of the best pubs in the world right on our doorstep, so I am not surprised that the entries have been coming in thick and fast, as pubs vie to have their hard work recognised. "There are still a few weeks left for even more of our local pubs to enter and I would encourage all publicans across Northern Ireland to get involved. "To be a great pub means more than serving a great pint. From first class food to charity work, innovative events and entertainment, our pubs are continually helping to raise standards across the whole hospitality industry. "Pubs of Ulster's Pub of the Year Awards recognise and showcase those pubs that push the boundaries to make our industry world famous."
