FRIDAY’S 1-1 draw with Ballymena United was the first league point Newry have secured since their 0-0 tie with the same opposition back in December and this evening, they travel to Lakeview Park hoping to pick up at least another point.

They face a Loughgall side that has been in fairly good form of late, having won three of their last five games, although their most recent outing ended in defeat to league leaders Larne, also on Friday evening.

Loughgall’s league position, which is currently seventh, is largely down to the scoring talent of striker Benjamin Magee, who has rattled the net 15 times this season, sitting second in the top goal scorer list behind Cliftonville’s Ben Wilson.

It was Magee that caused Newry City major problems when these sides last met back in late October when Loughgall ran out comfortable 3-1 winners, with Magee claiming a hattrick of second half goals.

Newry are currently bottom of the Sports Direct Premiership table and even a win here wouldn’t improve their position. Although they are in desperate need of points, all signs point to a home victory tonight.
