THE many friends and adoring family of Maria Robinson will celebrate her life at an event in the Canal Court on Saturday (February 10) starting at 7pm.

‘A Night for Maria’ marks what would have been the 21st birthday of the popular Our Lady’s Grammar School, Newry student who passed away in September 2020.

A former underage Gaelic Football player, Maria was an enthusiastic GAA supporter who attended many Armagh matches alongside her father Rory – a former inter-county referee and linesman – who is also a well-known and popular steward at The Athletic Grounds.

The evening has been planned to ‘showcase everything Maria loved’ and the twin beneficiaries of the fundraising events are PIPS and Target Ovarian Cancer.

‘A Night for Maria’ includes a fashion show by Wear Once Loved and Iconic Accessories as well as performances from Newry Pantomime, the Olivia Daly School of Irish Dancing and the Choir Studio.

Compere for the event is Lianne McCooey and she will oversee an auction that includes signed jerseys donated by Armagh, Down, Dublin, Mayo and Manchester United, Maria’s favourite soccer team alongside many other items. There will also be a raffle and a disco on the night.

Tickets, including a buffet, are £30. To buy yours, or to donate to the event go to register.enthuse.com/ps/event/AnightForMaria
