NEWRY City, despite struggling for form in the Playr-Fit Championship, pose a huge threat to Ballyclare Comrades’ recent revival when the sides meet at the Showgrounds on Friday night (8pm).

That’s the verdict of Comrades skipper Cillin Gilmour, whose side beat Ards 3-2 at Dixon Park last weekend, Brian Healy weighing in with a superb hat-trick.

“Going to Newry City will be a tough game. They haven’t started the season great so they will be raring to go,” said Gilmour.

“But we take every game as it comes because this league is crazy. Newry will probably climb the table as the season progresses.”

Barry Gray’s Newry, relegated from the top flight last season, are 10th with just one win from seven games, while Stephen Small’s Ballyclare moved into the top half of the table with that victory over Ards.

Saturday’s action (3pm) is headlined by leaders H&W Welders’ clash with Ards at Clandeboye Park, while second place Limavady host Ballinamallard.

Armagh City take on Bangor at Holm Park, Dundela welcome Annagh United to Wilgar Park and Institute tackle Newington at the Brandywell.
