NETMINDER Tyler Beskorowany was once again named the Belfast Giants' most valuable player at their end-of-season awards ceremony at the SSE Arena after leading them to the Challenge Cup and Elite League titles.
The Canadian goalie was outstanding all season, conceding just 1.71 goals per game and saving 93.1 per cent of the shots he faced to lead them to an incredible double, while it also means he has been named MVP in both seasons he has played in Belfast having also won the award in the 2018/19 season.
Meanwhile, forwards JJ Piccinich and Scott Conway both walked away with the most awards having lifted three each, including sharing the top points scorer award.
Winger Piccinich also claimed the Belfast Giants' Official Supporters Club's Young Player of the Year award for the best player U25 and the Players' Player of the Year award, while Conway was given Forward of the Year and the Official Supporters Club's Player of the Year.
The Fans' Favourite Award went to defenceman Kevin Raine, who has firmly established himself within the Belfast community during his time with the team, while the Coaches' Player of the Year was given to winger Mark Cooper after he emerged as an offensive dynamo, scoring 33 goals and 74 points.
Great Britain winger Ben Lake was awarded the Ian Barton Award for the hardest working player on the roster, which saw him finish the year with 20 goals and 49 points, with captain David Goodwin the recipient of the President's Award having led the team by example to their double.
And after a season where the Giants were head and shoulders above everybody else defensively, it was only fitting that their blue-liners were honoured as Griffin Reinhart was the winner of the Defenceman of the Year award, while Jeff Baum claimed the Unsung Hero award.
“I could not be prouder of everything this team has achieved together this season. Coming out of the pandemic, we were determined to come back better, stronger and faster than ever, leaving everything on the ice for our fans and the city of Belfast," said head coach Adam Keefe.
“Winning doesn’t come easy. This season’s success has taken huge commitment and teamwork, not just from the players and coaches but from the staff, volunteers, our sponsors, partners and our fanbase. It’s great to come together one last time to celebrate what has been an historic season.”
