CATHAL Toal will meet Thomas Mackle in this year’s Ulster final on Sunday, July 1 starting at Knappagh Cross Roads at 4pm.
Toal met last year’s finalist Paul O’Reilly in the second semi-final last Sunday and Toal, the warm favourite, took the lead with the first bowl. O’Reilly played his next shot very well but misplayed his third, leaving Toal his first chance to take a commanding lead at the planting corner.
He made no mistake, but O’Reilly hung in there and when Toal made a mistake he drew level before Toal broke away to win convincingly. He will now face former senior champion Mackle in what can only be described as score of the year.
