Will Benbradagh leave you breathless or bust?

With just under two weeks to go 'Man of Sperrin' organisers say the 2018 100km cycling sportive being held on May 20 is going to be even bigger and better than the inaugural event last year.

Speaking ahead of the event, which will start at Owenbeg outside Dungiven, Ciaran Doherty, one of the event organisers said: "2017 was the first ever Man of Sperrin event and it was a resounding success.

"Our ambition is to make Man of Sperrin the 'must do' sportive for cyclists across the island of Ireland.

"We have the perfect backdrop with the rugged natural beauty of the Sperrins and three routes designed to match cyclists' ability and ambition.

"The Five Peaks is the hardest 100km you'll ever do, the Four Peaks is pitched at intermediate cyclists and then we have an entry level event which is called the Two Peaks.

"This range of options combined with services on site to meet cyclists' specific needs on the day make this a very challenging but extremely satisfying day on the saddle.

"Of course events like this don't happen without financial backing and support and we are indebted to Braidwater and SIG insulation. Their renewed sponsorship is a vote of confidence in the event and we are very appreciative."

People can register online at manofsperrin.com at a reduced rate of £25 up until the 13th May.

People can register on the day but to guarantee your place it is best to book early as spaces are limited.

Darran Farnan, Marketing Manager, at Braidwater said: "We are delighted to be once again sponsoring the 2018 Man of Sperrin challenge.

"The event is a very worthwhile fundraiser as well as promoting the Sperrins, health & wellbeing, and one that Braidwater is keen to back and encourage new entrants to compete in. Last year it was a huge success with over 150 entrants and this year we're helping to push it over the 250 mark.

"The Braidwater team look forward to entering the challenge and would like to take this opportunity to wish the organisers all the best in the coming weeks and on the day."

Ken Jackson, SIG Insulation said: "We are delighted to partner with Braidwater in supporting the Man of Sperrin event for the second year running.

At SIG we are strong believers in supporting local communities and people based events. We have a local presence in the community with our Omagh based depot and we are delighted to be on board for the 'toughest 100km in Ireland."
