Ireland's premier bowls competition to get underway at Shaw's Bridge

IRELAND'S premier club competition will get underway on Saturday at Shaw's Bridge.

The event first took place in 2000, when Brocagh were successful, but it was five years until the tournament resumed when Cookstown Parochial won the first of their record four titles.

Sponsored once again by the Galway Bay Hotel there will be 44 clubs (each with three rinks) taking part. Play will also take place on the following Saturday with the finals of the cup and plate at the same venue on Friday, November 25,
