Two Donegal natives, Liam amd Gerry McLaughlin, with a unique Fermanagh connection

These are two Donegal-born natives with a pretty unique Fermanagh connection.

Born in Gaoth Dobhair, before moving to Cloghore, just on the Donegal side of Belleek in county Fermanagh, there were no objections when the talented brothers lined out for the Erne County .... before going on to lead them.

Liam MacLaughlin, pictured holding the O'Neill's football, captained Fermanagh senior footballers to a National Football League quarter-final in 1980.

His brother Gerry, with hurl and sliothar, captained Fermanagh senior hurlers in 1982 and 1983 (and is now better known for his journalistic skills).

They are pictured standing on the Battery Hill in county Donegal overlooking the Fermanagh village of Belleek as Donegal and Fermanagh prepare to face off in the 2018 Ulster Senior Football Championship final.
