AFTER a two-week break, Derry return to action in Division One of the Irish National League tomorrow when they welcome Limerick to Ballerin (2pm).

Limerick kept their hopes of claiming a place in the last four when they saw off Waterford last week.

Niamh Mulcahy has been hugely influential for the Shannonsiders this season and her free-taking has proved key. Caoimhe Costelloe also provides a threat for the visitors with her pace and eye for goal. 

Kilrea’s Karen Kielt plays a crucial role for Derry, sweeping in behind the backline to spring attacks and with a solid defence to rely on Derry manager Ciaran Cunningham has called on his side to be more attacking minded in their game against Limerick.

“We have had a really good two weeks of training since our last match and the girls are looking forward to the game against Limerick,” she said.

“There is a good atmosphere in the camp and I have seen massive improvements as they are working hard but they now know that it’s important to match teams in Division One we must not retreat into ourselves and be more offensive.”

The return of Katie McAnenly will certainly bolster the Derry forward line and the Cargin player has impressed her new manager.

“We have Katie McAnenly back in at full-forward and from what I have seen of her in training she will be a real handful for any defence to deal with.”

In Division Two, Down take on Laois in Clonduff tomorrow (2pm), while Antrim face Westmeath in Ahoghill (2pm).

In Division Three, Armagh and Cavan are both in action. Cavan have yet to register a win and will be keen to get off the mark against Dublin at O’Toole Park, Crumlin (2pm), while Armagh will hope to keep their unbeaten r
