MONAGHAN forward Jack McCarron has transferred clubs from Currin to Scotstown.

The skilful frontman, a devastating finisher, will follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and Allstar father Ray by lining out for the An Bhoth club.

McCarron’s grandfather played with the club before he emigrated to Luton in the 1950s.

His father Ray, an Ulster Championship winner and Allstar with Monaghan, was brought up in the Bedfordshire town but also lined out for Scotstown when the family returned to the Farney County during his teenage years.

McCarron, didn’t feature in the Dr McKenna Cup this month, but is expected to return to his county’s starting line-up for the League. He was the scorer of the brilliant goal that saved his county’s Division One bacon at Dublin’s expense last year. He also scored a dramatic winner in 2021 when Monaghan beat Galway in a relegation play-off at Clones.
