Powerful second half sees Enniskillen Gaels secure semi spot

Enniskillen 0-14 Belnaleck 1-6

Enniskillen Gaels secured their place in the semi-final of the Mannok Fermanagh SFC as they produced an excellent second half display to run out five-point victors over Belnaleck at a wet Brewster Park tonight.

Belnaleck had led by five points at one stage in the first half, but Enniskillen took control after the break and after getting back on level terms they then pushed on for the win.

Enniskillen had two good goals chances in the opening six minutes, but Johnny Cassidy shot wide before Aaron Nolan was denied by Ryan McNulty in the Belnaleck goal.

The Art McMurroughs though made no mistake when they were presented with a goal opportunity of their own in the 13th minute as Bryan Owens palmed home after being fed by Ciaran McBrien.

With James Speight, Kane Connor and Owens on target, Belnaleck moved into a 1-4 to 0-2 lead before Callum Jones slotted over the closing point of the half for Enniskillen to leave four in it at the interval.

Jones set the tone for what was a dominant Enniskillen second half performance by Enniskillen when he fired over from distance in the opening 20 seconds, and although Garvan Quigley replied for Belnaleck, Enniskillen started to take a stranglehold and with Neil McDermott, the impressive Conor Love, John Reihill and Brandon Horan firing over they levelled things by the midway stage of the half.

Jones then hit a rasping drive that clipped the top of the crossbar on its way over as Enniskillen took the lead for the first time although Darragh McGurn answered for Belnaleck to leave it 0-9 to 1-6 with ten minutes to go.

It was Enniskillen though who were to push on in the closing stages as Reihill, Love and Ross Bogue tagged on points to seal a 0-14 to 1-6 win for the Gaels.
