EXPERIENCED duo Kevin O’Boyle and Mark Sweeney have returned to the Antrim senior football panel after periods away from the county set-up.

With promotion out of Division Four within their grasp, O’Boyle and Sweeney’s presence can only enhance Antrim’s prospects.

A series of injuries forced former captain O’Boyle to step away in 2018 but given his brilliant form in Cargin’s successful three-in-a-row tilt last month it is no surprise boss Lenny Harbinson has recalled the Erin’s Own defender.

Sweeney is also back in the fold after a two-year lay-off having commuted from Dublin for most of his inter-county career.

The former Queen’s University student was a key player during Frank Fitzsimons and Gerard Adams’s reign.

Sweeney’s greatest strength is his versatility but he thrived in the defensive sweeper’s role for several seasons.

The global pandemic also put paid to Ryan Murray returning to Dubai and as a result the Lamh Dhearg man resumes his inter-county career and will undoubtedly boost the team’s attacking options against Division Four opponents Wicklow (a) and Waterford (h) later this month.

Moneyglass defender Paddy McCormack is also back after his studies took him to Galway over the past couple of years.

McCormack had made massive strides during the Fitzsimons/Adams era and his return to Antrim is sure to give more defensive depth to Harbinson’s squad.
