Nine dedicated volunteer coaches from across Ulster have been announced as finalists in this year’s Translink Ulster GAA Coach of the Year awards. Now in its third year, a record number of public nominations were submitted by club members across Ulster. A panel of experts including Down manager Paddy Tally, Ulster GAA’s director of coaching and games Eugene Young and Irish News journalist Neil Loughran shortlisted nine finalists, with the help of Translink’s Pat Maguire. The finalists are: Paul Buchanan (Antrim - Lámh Dhearg), Rosie McMahon (Armagh - Silverbridge Harps), Fiachra Sweeney (Cavan - Castlerahan), Laurence McMullan (Donegal – St Mary’s, Convoy), Sean Mellon (Derry - Na Magha), Sonia Kinsella (Down - St Patricks, Saul), Brendan Rasdale (Fermanagh -Derrygonnelly Harps), Jaime Black (Monaghan - Latton O’Rahilly’s), Paddy O’Neill (Tyrone - Derrytresk). Visit ulster.gaa.ie/coachoftheyearaward to cast your vote. Voting closes at 11.59pm on Sunday, November 24 and the winner will be announced on Sunday, December 1 at the Ulster Club SFC final. The overall winner will receive free coach travel for their team

ST PATRICK’S, MAYOBRIDGE: In preparation for next season, the club will be running a safeguarding awareness course on Tuesday, December 3 from 7pm-10pm. This course is for anyone wishing to help out at the club. It is compulsory that this course is completed before anyone can volunteer within our organisation.

The club will also be running a GAA foundation training course for coaches who haven’t yet completed this foundation level on Saturday, December 7 from 9.15am-4pm. We invite coaches who will be training members next year, and who do not hold the award, to attend.

GLASDRUMMAN: A Christmas shopping trip to the Belfast Christmas market and city centre will take place on Saturday, November 30. The annual Christmas bazaar takes place on Sunday, December 1 at 2pm.

BALLYMARTIN: The AGM date will take place on Sunday, December 8 at 2pm in the clubrooms. All motions and nominations of club officers to be submitted to the secretary by Saturday. These forms are available to download from the website and Facebook pages, or on request from any current committee member.

LIMAVADY WOLFHOUNDS: Tickets for the ‘Brawl in the Hall’ fight night on November 23 are on sale. It will take place at the Roe Valley Recreation Centre. Tickets can be purchased at either Harkin’s Bar in Linenhall Street or by contacting Niall McFlynn on 07802 962078.

ST JOHN’S, DRUMNAQUOILE: The AGM takes place on Wednesday, November 20, starting at 8pm. All current paid up members are invited to attend and vote. Also, a Mass to remember deceased members will take place in St Mary of The Angels, Clonvaraghan on Monday, November 18 at 7.30pm.
