RYAN Johnston is out of Down’s derby clash with Armagh and could miss a chunk of the summer after suffering another hamstring injury.

The Kilcoo man had been struggling with a hamstring strain and missed the entire block of club games in April because of it.

With their clash against Kieran McGeeney’s side two weeks away, he played in a challenge game against Galway on Friday but is understood to have suffered a tear in the hamstring that will rule him out.

He will do well to see any action over the next month regardless of how well Down go in Ulster or through the qualifiers, but depending on the severity he could find himself sidelined until the height of summer.
