A Belfast teacher has won the Ladies Gaelic Football Schools Coach of the Year Award for 2018.

St Dominic's teacher Laura Bannon was presented with the award in Croke Park.

Ms Bannon, a daughter of St John's GAC Chairman Gerry McCann, introduced an in-school competition which saw girls take up the game for the first time and some of the training sessions started at 7.30am.

"The GAA is a massive family, it is an amazing organisation to be involved with and there's nothing more I would want to spend my free time doing," she said.
