NEWRY City continue to share top spot in the Championship table with Ards after both sides made it four wins from four over the weekend.

Newry travelled to Darragh Park to take on Dergview and emerged with a 2-0 win thanks to a Thomas Lockhart double. Lockhart struck his first on the half-hour mark and he secured the points for the visitors with his second after the break.

Playing on Friday night, Ards had moved into pole position in the table with a victory over Queen's University thanks to goals from Daniel Reynolds, Salou Jallow and James Ferrin. The weekend’s results means Ards’ trip to the Newry Showgrounds this Friday night will have the extra relish of an early season top of the table clash.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Loughgall moved into third spot three points off the pace after an away win over Ballyclare Comrades. Andrew Hoey opened the scoring midway through the first-half before Lorcan Forde made sure of all three points at the end of normal time.

At the Brandywell in Derry, two late goals saw Annagh United claim the points from their clash with Institute. Scoreless for most of the game, Niall Henderson edged the visitors in front on 83 minutes before Robbie Norton made it 2-0 a short time later.

Meanwhile, at Breda Park, Michael McLellan grabbed the only goal of the game as Harland & Wolff Welders got the better of Knockbreda while, on Friday evening, Ballinamallard United and Dundela battled to 2-2 draw at Ferney Park.
