COLERAINE maintained their unbeaten record and regained second spot in the Danske Bank Premiership on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Carrick Rangers at Taylor’s Avenue.

Eoin Bradley's 12th minute strike put the Bannsiders ahead before Caolan Loughran levelled for Carrick from the penalty spot after Gareth McConaghie fouled Stewart Nixon in the box.

However, Loughran then managed the dubious achievement of scoring at both ends when he headed Nedas Maciulaitis' shot into his own net to swing the momentum back in Coleraine's favour.

Oran Kearney's side saw out the game in impressive fashion, with Aaron Jarvis and Aaron Traynor adding the third and fourth goals to give the Bannsiders all three points and move them back to within five of league leaders Crusaders.

Also on Saturday, bottom club Warrenpoint staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Dungannon and claim their first points of the season.

Town were 2-0 down at the break via Swifts goals from Oisín Smyth and Michael Carvill, but they came out fighting after the restart. Conall Young's excellent free-kick and two goals from Alan O'Sullivan turned the game on its head before Carvill's second of the match made it 3-3.

The Milltown men were not to be denied, however, and Lorcan Forde' excellent first-time finish from Brandon Doyle's low cross in injury-time sparked wild celebrations.

Elsewhere, Ballymena were held to a 1-1 draw by Institute at the Brandywell.
