A talented International Community soccer squad claimed the Confederation Cup honours on the final day of the ground-breaking Ethnic Minority Sports Organisation Northern Ireland (Emsoni) event.

The final of this eight-week, inter-community football tournament, ended in a 4-0 win for the International Community side over tough rivals in the Ghanaian Community team at Midgley Park in Belfast.

In the third-place play-off Suffolk Community defeated Sudanese Community 5-1 to take the bronze medal honours.

The tournament started on the June 9 at both Olympia Park and Midgley Park with 12 communities competing including Asian, Algerian, Polish, Timorese, Somali, Ghanaian, Zimbabwean, North African, Blackstaff, International, Suffolk and Sudanese Community.

Northern Ireland Confederation Cup is an initiative of Emsoni designed ''to create an all-inclusive platform for diverse communities to participate not only in a cross-community football activity but also a way of integrating people, breaking both cultural and social barriers, bridging ethnicity gap, tackling isolation and promoting social inclusion.''

NI Confederation Cop 2019 was presented to the 2019 champions – International Community by Eileen Chan-Hu, a representative of Equality Commission NI.
