Soccer: Irish Premiership Statistics

Glenavon v Glentoran

Glenavon have begun the league season very well and are currently second in the table, just one point behind leaders Linfield. They do have to bounce back from a shock League Cup defeat to Dergview on Tuesday night, but should beat a Glentoran side who have had a mixed start.

Odds: H: 8/15 D: 11/4 A: 4/1

Prediction: Glenavon

Institute v Dungannon

NEWLY-promoted Institute could not have hoped for a better opening to the new campaign, and seven points from 12 is an impressive return. By contrast, Rodney McAree takes his team to the Brandywell looking to get a foothold in the table. This could be the game in which the Tyrone side do just that.

Odds: H: 11/10 D: 23/10 A: 21/10

Prediction: Dungannon

Linfield v Ards

IT is impossible to look beyond Linfield and their skinny odds for this clash reflect that. They sharpened their claws on Moyola Park during the week and will surely remain on top of the heap this evening after overcoming an already struggling Ards team.

Odds: H: 1/8 D: 11/2 A: 13/1

Prediction: Linfield

Newry v Cliftonville

NEWRY City have been playing better than their league position indicates, and are not without a small chance against an in and out Reds outfit. Against that, the Belfast side have been threatening to give someone a hammering, and, unfortunately it is not inconceivable that that will be today.

Odds: H: 3/1 D: 11/4 A: 4/6

Prediction: Cliftonville

Warrenpoint v Ballymena

EVEN at this early stage ‘Point look in trouble, as they have been beaten four times, and have conceded 11 goals. Perhaps their League Cup win against Annagh United will have helped their confidence. It will need to as Ballymena look a decent side this year and should collect the points this afternoon.

Odds: H: 3/1 D: 11/4 A: 4/6

Prediction: Ballymena
