ARSENAL survived a scare to advance in the Europa League as Swedish minnows Ostersund scored twice in just over a minute to claim a second-leg victory at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were expected to encounter few difficulties in north London having won 3-0 in Sweden but quick-fire goals from Hosam Aiesh and Ken Sema stunned Arsene Wenger's men.

Even though Sead Kolasinac pulled one back to make it 4-2 on aggregate, Ostersund's 2-1 victory on the night was just the second home defeat Arsenal had suffered in 28 games.

Serie A leaders Napoli crashed out of the competition on away goals, despite beating RB Leipzig 2-0 in Germany.

The Italians had it all to do having been stunned 3-1 by Leipzig in the first leg at Stadio San Paolo a week ago.

Napoli led in Germany through Piotr Zielinski's 32nd-minute opener and Lorenzo Insigne's 86th-minute strike gave them hope of an improbable success but their fifth consecutive victory away from home was not enough.

Borussia Dortmund needed an 83rd-minute goal from Marcel Schmelzer to ensure they did not go out on away goals to Atalanta.

Having scored twice in a 3-2 loss in Germany, Atalanta had hoped Rafael Toloi's early strike would be enough only for Schmelzer to save Dortmund late on.

Athletic Bilbao's encounter with Spartak Moscow was overshadowed by violent scenes away from the ground as fans clashed.

Bilbao were beaten 2-1 on the night but their 3-1 success in Russia was enough to see them go through.

Lazio did manage to overturn a first-leg deficit as Ciro Immobile bagged a hat-trick in their 5-1 thrashing of Steaua Bucharest.

The visitors to Rome held a slender 1-0 advantage but Immobile's treble, and further strikes from Bastos and Felipe Anderson, eased Lazio through.

Atletico Madrid, favourites to win the competition, are into the last 16 following a 5-1 aggregate success over Copenhagen, with Kevin Gameiro scoring in a 1-0 second-leg success for Atleti.

That was the same scoreline AC Milan beat Ludogorets by as they added to the 3-0 advantage they held from the reverse fixture.

Lyon, whose stadium will host the final, won 1-0 at Villarreal to secure a 4-1 success over the two legs.

RB Salzburg's 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad was enough for them to continue in the competition and though Marseille lost 1-0 to Braga, they marched on nevertheless having held a 3-0 lead from the first meeting.

Lokomotiv Moscow eliminated another French outfit Nice as their 1-0 victory gave them a 4-2 aggregate win while Dynamo Kiev's 0-0 draw with AEK Athens saw the former progress by virtue of the away-goals rule.

A 3-3 draw between Sporting Lisbon and Astana was enough for the Portuguese club to go through 6-4 on aggregate, and Viktoria Plzen joined them in the last 16 thanks to a 3-1 aggregate success over Partizan Belgrade.
