Round by round: How Carl Frampton's fight with Luke Jackson unfolded

Carl Frampton v Luke Jackson round by round

Round one: Cagey opener. Both fighters feinting and pawing out the jab. Solid Frampton, an instinctive judge of range, has his hands low and makes the running against wiry Jackson who is crouched in behind a high guard. Frampton 10-9

Round two: Frampton switches from head to body attack and lands some thumping hooks. Jackson took them well and looks to fire back but he has no room to let his hands go. 10-9

Round three: Razor sharp Frampton is cut over the right eye but taking complete control. Looking for the uppercut but there’s lots of variety to his work and the Australian winces as he gets caught with a left hook on the chin. 10-9

Round four: Tough Jackson got through his defences late on but Frampton’s timing is precise and he looks untroubled as he picks him off with vicious counters to take another round. 10-9

Round five: Jackson looking out of his depth. Stays on the outside and tries to tie Frampton up when he closes the distance. Frampton out-boxing him and beginning to tee off. 10-9

Round six: Good effort from Jackson but the Windsor crowd bays Frampton on as he drives him into ropes. He stays patient and doesn’t go in for the kill. Spears another uppercut through the Aussie’s guard. 10-9

Round seven: Frampton in command and looking to close the show. Steps in and thumps bodyshots into Jackson’s ribcage and steps out again. Jackson determined and tough but can sense this is a bridge too far. 10-9

Round eight: Frampton sets him up with an uppercut shot and then a trademark left hook that zeros in under Jackson’s elbow and sends him to the canvas. Takes an eight-count but survives until the end of the round. 10-8

Round nine: A right hook to the body has Jackson in trouble again. Frampton follows it up with a left hook that nails him on the chin and the towel comes in from the Australian’s corner. All over.
