ALFREDO Meli returns to the ring after more than a year on the sidelines when he takes on Anthony Fox (1-0-1) in Birmingham tonight.
The Belfast middleweight, now part of the MGM stable, last fought in November 2015 when he was held to a draw by Conrad Cummings in a memorable Celtic Nations title battle.
Since then the career of the Immaculata product has been derailed by health issues which have now been cleared up. Unbeaten Meli (11-0-1) was forced to pull out of a Commonwealth title eliminator against Sam Sheedy in Sheffield in May because of ‘an issue’ with one of his pre-fight scans but he has since been given the all-clear to return to the ring and begins chapter two of his career against Fox tonight.
