JAMES Fryers (11-1) and Paul Hyland jnr (10-0) return to action in Riga, Latvia next week.

The Belfast fighters – and MHD Promotions stablemate James Tennyson – intend to begin the year with a bang on Wednesday, April 6.

“Both fighters are ranked at number 10 in the British rankings at super-featherweight and lightweight respectively and are keen to stay active,” said promoter Mark Dunlop.

“A big opportunity will come their way sooner rather than later.”

“Fryers intends to return to winning ways after a split decision loss to the experienced Maxi Hughes in an eliminator for the super-featherweight title. He knows that it will only take a few fights to get himself back in the mix for a shot at the British title.”

Hyland jnr has improved with every fight since turning professional less than two years ago with 10 wins against good opposition.

The undefeated 25-year-old now hopes to push on up the rankings towards a major title fight of his own and his fight in Latvia will give him valuable experience of boxing away from home.

“The key to the stable’s success has been activity,” said Dunlop.

“Both lads are fit and ready to go, I am still finalising opponents but I’m confident of victory whoever I pitch them in with.”

Meanwhile, Dunlop reports that Tennyson (16-1) is looking sharp in the gym ahead of his next assignment: a challenge for the British featherweight title.

‘The Assassin’ is hoping to emulate Irish boxing legend Barry McGuigan who also captured the title at the age of 22.

Tennyson has a big task ahead as he takes on the seasoned champion Ryan Walsh (20-1-1) whose only defeat came at the hands of the current world champion Lee Selby.

Big punching Tennyson has been travelling the UK since his last impressive victory on February 6 sparring the best available including Carl Frampton, Josh Warrington, Maxi Hughes, Gary Sykes and Ronnie Clarke.

“Word is travelling fast of how real James is, he has been signed up on a promotional deal by hall of fame promoter Frank Warren, I not only expect to see him win the title but do it in devastating fashion,” said Dunlop.
