THE GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) has ordered a replay of the All-Ireland Club Football Championship Final between Watty Graham’s Glen and Dublin’s Kilmacud Croke's.
The Leinster champions won the replay in contentious circumstances after it became clear that they had 16 players (substituted Dara Mullin failed to leave the field) defending their goal when Glen attacked from a 45. A goal then would almost certainly have won the game for the Derry club.
However, the linesman on duty refused to allow the 45 to be retaken and Kilmacud were awarded the title.
After deliberation, Glen lodged an objection with the GAA last week and Kilmacud subsequently submitted a counter-objection but the CCCC has now ordered a replay following a hearing on Monday night.
Kilmacud now have three days to appeal the CCCC's decision to the GAA's Central Hearings Committee and if either club is unhappy with the CHC's decision they can pursue the matter further with a final appeal to the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA).
The penalties for breaching the relevant Rule 6.44 that deals with a team having more than 15 players on the pitch included the awarding of the game to the opposing team, for the game to be replayed, or a fine.
GAA order a replay so. Kilmacud will most likely now appeal to Central Appeals and, presuming the decision is upheld, to the DRA. Could be a week or two before a date is set. March 11/12 most likely, a break week in NFL. Crokes not fielding would likely result in a hefty fine pic.twitter.com/48F0tDhkNf
