Mark Allen won his third tournament of the season, and banked another £100,000, after a thrilling clash with Masters champion Judd Trump in the final of the World Grand Prix in Cheltenham.

The Antrim man, who defended his BetVictor Northern Ireland Open title in October and added the Cazoo UK Championship the following month, fashioned a winning break of 52 in the deciding frame to deny Trump a second win in the space of a week.

Earlier, Trump had launched a brilliant fightback after going into the evening session 6-2 adrift. The gap was still four at the mid-session interval but Trump then won four in a row to level.

Allen regained the lead by winning frame 17 but Trump forced the decider and after both players had missed gilt-edged chances to clinch victory it was Allend who held his nerve best.

The victory moves Allen up to number three in the world rankings.
