MARK Allen came back to earth with a bump yesterday when he lost 5-0 to China’s Zhao Jianbo in the third round of the BetVictor German Masters.

World number five Allen (above) enjoyed a career highlight in winning the UK Championship - and £250,000 top prize - with a 10-7 victory over Ding Junhui in York on Sunday night.

It was Allen’s second ‘Triple Crown’ success following the 2018 Masters and continued his great run of form this season which saw him win last month’s Northern Ireland Open at the Waterfront Hall.

Allen’s fellow Antrim cueman, practice partner and great pal Jordan Brown - last year’s Welsh Open champion - takes on beaten UK finalist Ding tonight.

Cork’s Aaron Hill - conqueror of Judd Trump at the NI Open - was edged out 5-4 by Iran’s in-form Hossein Vafaei.

Jimmy White rolled back his 60 years to beat Martin Gould 5-2.
