CELTIC manager Wim Jansen last night confirmed a ‘get out’ clause in his contract, could allow him to walk out of Parkhead in July.

The former Dutch international’s claim again rocks the Scottish Premier League leaders in a week in which they face the crucial top of the table clash with second place Hearts at Celtic Park.

The manager has in the past said that he and Celtic General Manager Jock Brown, “were not drinking pals.”

This week that suggested strained relationship between the two, hit the headlines for the second time in Celtic’s treble chasing season. Celtic have already refused.

Celtic have already refused to comment on the reported summer ‘get out’ clause, stating that the matter was “private.” Jansen, speaking on the club’s official supporter hot-line, also refuted claims that he was using Celtic to put himself in the picture and get a top coaching job in Holland. Jansen said: “The club and I, we have a clause in the contract, that we can finish the contract in July. “We put it in the contract, from my point of view, if I go or they have to send me away, the don’t have to pay me.” When

THE GAA yesterday announced recordbreaking receipts totalling over £16million for 1997, and also hinted the 1999 All-Ireland football and hurling finals could be played at Thurles.

Director General Liam Mulvihill pointed out last year’s increased income was an “outstanding achievement” considering there had been a money-spinning All-Ireland football final replay in 1996.

And he hinted a temporary move to Thurles was possible, should the Central Council decide to press ahead with the redevelopment of Phase Two of Croke Park before the year 2000.

The Central Council’s £8.5m income - which came mainly from hosting All-Ireland semi-finals and finals - only increased marginally from the previous year.

However it was the revenue of the four provincial councils which rose dramatically last year bringing in £7.8m, almost as much as the Central Council itself.

The Leinster council was singled out for special praise, after generating £3.5m alone.
