He has assisted in the smooth transition of the Irish News from a traditional broadsheet newspaper, through the introduction of the condensed Berliner-style paper to the present-day, popular compact format. He has led an award-winning reporting and sub-editing team during this time and is now looking ahead with confidence to developing the sports section even further.

In so doing, Thomas and his sports desk team will play an integral role in helping to create a whole new generation of readers, and add an exciting chapter into the rich history of the success of The Irish News.
