Robson moving in right direction

LAURA Robson is making waves at Wimbledon and causing a stir with fellow teenagers across the globe after becoming the envy of millions of One Direction fans.

Robson (pictured above) overcame a bout of nerves to swat aside Mariana Duque-Marino yesterday, reaching the third round in London for the first time.

Yet it is in showbiz circles that Robson has been receiving the most attention.

British boy band One Direction, who have a combined Twitter following of 56 million, have been keeping an eye on Robson's progress during Wimbledon and last night two band members - Harry Styles and Liam Payne -wished the 19-year-old good luck for yesterday's match via the social networking site.

Robson's Twitter following has mushroomed since she received the tweets, although it appears that some of her new followers are not too happy with her being the subject of interest from their favourite boy band.

"I got an email from Twitter saying Harry was following me and that he had tweeted me," Robson said with a smile.

"But I looked in my replies, and it was just like thousands of these messages, saying, 'Who is she?'.

"I was wetting myself because it was so funny. I think I've gained 20,000 followers and they have no idea who I am!

"I like a bit of cheesy music. And then yesterday I tweeted, 'Hi to the One Direction fans'.

"They corrected me, saying, 'We're not fans; we're Directioners'. It's like a whole other world."
