SAMMY Wilson’s response to the ‘ethnics’ story was so convoluted that I almost expected him to say that he would trust a gay, female, gypsy ethnic to go to a Muslim-owned shop for a curried yoghurt and then return with the correct change. He could have killed the whole story with one sentence: “I was responding to the gentleman’s answer to a question I had asked him; so, to avoid any confusion or misinterpretation, let me make it clear that I reject the subsequent odious comments made by the gentleman concerned.” That’s all that was required.
