Caitriona Ruane was first Sinn Féin minister to walk out of Stormont committee
CARÁL Ní Chuilín is not the first Sinn Féin minister to walk out of a Stormont scrutiny committee before members had finished questioning her. In 2008, then education minister Caitriona Ruane left the ornate senate chamber in the middle of giving evidence on her post 11-plus vision, declaring the MLAs' time up. The minister had said at the outset she would not stay beyond 11am and was true to her word, rising from the desk and leaving in her wake a group of incredulous-looking committee members.
