Republican prisoners back Tyrone man on punishment block

Republican inmates in Maghaberry Prison have given their support to Omagh man Gavin Coyle who has been held in the punishment block for four years.

REPUBLICAN inmates in Maghaberry Prison have given their support to a Co Tyrone man held in isolation in the jail's punishment block for four years. Gavin Coyle, from Omagh, has been held in 23-hour lock up since his arrest in 2011 after the discovery of an arms cache near Coalisland in Co Tyrone. Sentenced last year, the 38-year-old was due for release in April but last month was also charged with attempted murder in connection with a bomb attack on the car of a Catholic PSNI officer near Castlederg, Co Tyrone in 2008.
