Anti-terrorist police ‘on the ground' prior to bomb attack

POLICE believe dissident republicans intend to launch a number of high profile attacks in the run up to the centenary of the Easter Rising, with the security threat at its highest level following the attempted murder of a prison officer in east Belfast. The 52-year-old is in a stable condition after suffering serious leg injuries when a bomb exploded under his van in the Hillsborough Drive area off the Woodstock Road after 7am on Friday.
