A MAN jailed for trying to kill a member of the Ulster Defence Regiment has failed to convince the Supreme Court that he was unfairly convicted of being a member of the IRA. Gerry McGeough, who is in his 50s, had mounted the latest round of a legal challenge more than 30 years after Samuel Brush was ambushed and shot near Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone. He claimed that a judge had been wrong to take into account evidence about his IRA membership in the 1970s and 1980s at a trial.
