Mild-mannered politician led Ulster Unionists for 16 years
JAMES MOLYNEAUX, who led the Ulster Unionists during some of the most difficult years of the Troubles, has died at the age of 94. A traditional right-wing Orange-man, albeit one who was deceptively mild-mannered and self-effacing, he led the party from 1979 until 1995. Seen as a persistent debater, he was fervently attached to the Union.
