I have just become aware recently of the news story about offensive chants about the Virgin Mary at a social club linked to a local football club, and letters including from Fr Sean McManus.

As the head of the Evangelical Alliance in Northern Ireland I want to be really clear that this behaviour is ugly, wrong and designed to be deeply offensive.

I want to encourage Catholic Christians in our shared love of Jesus and commit them to His peace and presence at this time.
