Relief as normality returns to Belfast city centre

There will be considerable relief that key roads through Belfast city centre finally reopened to traffic yesterday after the massive Primark fire last August.

It will be accepted that an enormous amount of work needed to be carried out in the Royal Avenue/Castle Junction area although there will still be some surprise that regular bus routes had to be diverted for fully nine months.

However, after a traumatic period, there are unmistakable signs that normal commercial life is returning to the heart of the city and that better days lie ahead for both traders and shoppers.
