Anger over Derry pipe bomb attack

It is appalling that a six-year-old boy could pick up a pipe bomb after it had exploded in the garden of his house in the Waterside area of Derry.

While it was fortunate that no one was injured during the incident in Curlew Way on Tuesday night, the behaviour of the attackers were both callous and reckless.

It is also deeply disturbing that the child’s mother believes their home was targeted because she lives in a mainly Protestant area but socialises with Catholics.

The vast majority of people from all sections of the community in Derry will want to offer their full support to the victims of an outrageous act of intimidation.
