Huge shock over Newry tragedy

There will be profound shock over the discovery of the bodies of a man, a woman and a teenage girl at an apartment just off one of the busiest roads in Newry, Co Down, yesterday.

Although a major police investigation was still progressing last night, reports in the area suggested that a double murder and a suicide was suspected.

It will be noted that there have been a disturbing number of such cases across Ireland, both north and south, over previous years, but drawing firm conclusions must wait until all the details have been established.

At this stage, the priority needs to be extending sympathy and support to the relatives and friends of all three victims of the Newry tragedy.
