Another gangland outrage in Dublin

The double murder of mother-of-six Antoinette Corbally (48) and 30-year-old Clinton Shannon represented another appalling example of gangland crime carried out in broad daylight in Dublin.

It was particularly chilling that the intended target of the shooting on Wednesday escaped and the two victims were cut down in a hail of bullets simply because they were in his company at a house in the Ballymun area.

The outrage was reportedly unconnected with the vicious feud between the Hutch and Kinahan cartels which has already left at least ten people dead over the last two years.

It is clear that Gardaí are struggling to deal with the upsurge in violence but it is essential that they are provided with all the resources they need to bring the main perpetrators to justice.
