West Belfast paramilitary attack is a barbaric crime

The shooting of a man in west Belfast on Thursday night was a barbaric crime which cannot be justified under any circumstances.

This man was dragged into a alleyway in the Bread Street area around 9pm and shot twice in each leg.

Two men suspected of involvement in this despicable and brutal attack are said to have fled in the direction of the Divis estate.

We have endured decades of violence in our society and are now trying to build a peaceful, stable future for all.

As we know, this type of paramilitary shooting has turned out to be a death sentence for some victims yet this evil practice goes on.

It was wrong in the past and it is wrong now.
